Your private guide will lead you in areas of most interest of the Vatican Museums and St. Peter's Basilica of interest (the latter only if you have booked the 4 hour tour).
The itinerary includes the Cortile della Pigna, so named for the huge bronze pine cone, located in the courtyard, from the Roman Age; the Cortile del Belvedere which houses many statues from the Greco-Roman era; the Hall of the Muses, where you can admire the "Torso del Belvedere" ( a fragment of an ancient statue of Apollonius); the Round Hall, famous for its golden statues of Hercules and Adriano and the porphyry basin of Nero's Domus Aurea (Golden House); in the Greek Cross Hall, which houses the two porphyry sarcophagi belonging to Santa Costanaza and Santa Elena, daughter and mother of Emperor Constantine the Great; the Candelabra Gallery, the Gallery of the Tapestries and the Gallery of Maps; the Sobieski Hall, which takes its name from the giant painting that represents the victory of the Polish King Sobieski III at the Battle of Vienna against the Turks (1683); the Room of the Immaculate Conception and the famous Raphael Rooms where you will be enraptured with the frescoes as "The School of Athens" and "Liberation of St. Peter".
In case you have opted for the 3-hour tour, the tour ends inside the Sistine Chapel, if on the other hand, if you prefer the 4-hour tour, after you have visited the beautiful fifteenth century chapel, your private guide will take you inside the last leg of your tour: the Basilica of St. Peter.
